Prof. Marcus Holzinger

Professor Marcus Holzinger has been selected to attend the 2017 Frontiers of Engineering (FOE) Symposium, to be held Sept. 25-27 on the campus of the United Technologies Research Center in East Hartford, CT.

Holzinger is one of only about 100 engineers nationally invited to the two-day symposium, which is sponsored by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and focused on the interests of 30-45 years old from industry, universities, and government labs. Holzinger is the fourth AE faculty from Georgia Tech in as many years to be invited to the symposium. Other previous FOE invitees include professors Julian Rimoli, Brian German, Mitchell Walker, and J.-P. Clarke.

The annual event gives rising stars within various fields of engineering a rare opportunity to make cross-disciplinary and cross-professional connections and to promote the transfer of new techniques and approaches that promise to build US innovative capacity.

Chaired by former AE professor Robert Braun, the 2017 symposium will consist of four plenary sessions—Mega-Tall Buildings and Other Future Places of Work, Energy Strategies to Power Our Future, Unraveling the Complexity of the Brain, and Machines That Teach Themselves.
