Marcus Cappelli, Ph.D. AE '07, has been promoted to the position of chief engineer, Black Hawk Modernization at Sikorsky, effective July 2017. A former student of Prof. George Kardomateas, Cappelli earned his master's and doctoral degrees at Tech, and went on to earn an MBA from Carnegie Mellon. He has worked at Sikorsky for more than six years, where he has specialized in leading multi-functional teams to generate technical innovation while meeting business and financial objectives.

In his new position, Cappelli will lead all technical efforts related to the strategic development of future Army UH/HH-60 Black Hawk capabilities. He will also lead all technical efforts on the development of a Black Hawk Weapons System for international sale.
