AE Career Week kicks off Sunday night September 16. Don't miss a thing.

Even students who've already landed their next internship (or co-op, or job) will find plenty of opportunities to

advance their careers during AE Career Week, which runs from Sunday, September 16 through Thursday, September 20.

Just ask event organizer Sahaj Patel.

"I already have an internship lined up with Blue Origin next spring, but I will be going to the AE Career Fair [September 19] just to see what other employers are doing, to see what's happening other places in the field," says the third-year AE major from New Jersey. "It will help me plan my career."

His friend, Shravan Hariharan agrees. "We both have internships with Blue Origin because we both networked with one of their reps last year. Then we stayed in touch with him. And when our [internship] applications came up for review, he knew who we were. Networking works."

So do Patel and Hariharan

As president and vice president, respectively, of Sigma Gamma Tau, the two third-year undergrads have been feverishly networking with more than a dozen employers since last spring to produce the AE Career Fair, the crowning jewel of Career Week. Their group has created an impressive website that has a directory of the many employers who are interested in recruiting AE students - from first year's to doctoral students.

"Many students arrive curious and leave employed," quipped AE Regents Professor Lakshmi Sankar, who works closely with the Sigma Gamma Tau organizers on the fair. "This is a premier showcase of our talent, and employers know it. They are willing to invest now, so they'll have top talent later on."

Among this year's attendees are: Aerojet Rocketdyne, Area-I, Bell, CIA, GE Aviation, Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin Corporation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program, Northrop Grumman, The MITRE Corporation, Triumph Aerospace Structures, United States Marine Corps, United Technologies and more.

In addition to the AE Career Fair, the AE Career Week highlights other career opportunities:

Career Info Sessions: Eight+ employers have scheduled individual career info sessions, open to all students. These sessions allow recruiters to directly connect with AE students and explain the opportunities that their companies offer. The Career Info sessions kick off on Sunday night with events sponsored by Honeywell Corporation and GE. See the entire week's schedule.

All Majors Career Fair: The Institute has put together a huge All-Majors Career Fair that will run Monday and Tuesday, September 17 and 18, from 9 to 4 in the Campus Recreation Center.

NOTE To JOB HUNTERS: Throughout the year, many employers screen candidates for positions by checking their resumes on CareerBuzz. If you haven't logged on and uploaded your resume to CareerBuzz, consider doing that, now.
