The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has elected AE Professor Eric M. Feron to its Class of 2021 Honorary Fellows and Fellows.

Feron, the Dutton-Ducoffe Professor of Aerospace Software Engineering, is among just 28 individuals chosen for the prestigious honor, which AIAA confers on “individuals in recognition of their notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences or technology of aeronautics and astronautics.”

The induction ceremony will take place later this year.

“The Class of 2021 AIAA Honorary Fellows and Fellows are among the best minds in our profession. I commend each member of this year’s Class on their career accomplishments and dedication to furthering our industry,” said Basil Hassan, AIAA president.

Feron’s research uses fundamental concepts of control systems, optimization and computer science to address important problems in aerospace engineering, including: aerobatic control of unmanned aerial vehicles; multi-agent operations, including air traffic control systems; and aerospace software system certification.
