Eight talented aerospace engineering undergraduates were recognized with more than $12,000 in scholarships earlier this month at the Women in Engineering Awards Banquet.
Altogether more than $131,000 in scholarships were awarded to women in all of the engineering schools by WIE, the result of a year-round fund-raising effort that partners the College's educational goals with the aspirations of many industry sponsors.
According to WIE Director, Dr. Christine Valle, winners were chosen based on three criteria: the maintenance of a 3.0 GPA, financial need, and a demonstrated involvement in campus activities that support women in the engineering fields.
The 2014 recipients from the School of Aerospace Engineering are: Alissa Alberica (sponsored by Boeing); Elizabeth Balga (Boeing); Harleen Brar (Lockheed Martin); Sarah Heywood (United Technologies); Julia Macon (Boeing); Sara Miller (Boeing); Jessica Pfeffer (United Technologies); and Brittni Walters (United Technologies).
