AE alumnus R. Steven Justice has been elected as an at-large member of the Board of Trustees for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the world’s largest aerospace technical society. His term began in May.
Justice was elected as part of AIAA’s new governance structure. The Council of Directors is elected directly by the membership and the at-large members of the Board of Trustees are elected by the Council of Directors.
This is not the first time AIAA has recognized Justice's many contributions to the field. He previously served on the national Board of Directors of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and AIAA Technical Committees on Society and Aerospace Technology, Structural Dynamics, and General Aviation
Justice has remained active in Georgia's thriving aerospace industry since graduating from Tech in 1980. In addition to volunteering for his alma mater on the Aerospace Engineering School Advisory Council (AESAC), he formerly worked as the director of the state's Center of Innovation for Aerospace before being promoted to his current position, executive director of the Georgia Centers of Innovation.
“I am delighted to welcome these outstanding leaders and look forward to working with them to grow our organization and increase membership in all areas,” AIAA president John Langford said. “Their personal dedication and contributions to engineering will ensure AIAA is the driving force that leads us into the next era of innovation and exploration.”
