Tsiotras already holds the title of Dean's Professor and is the associate director of Georgia Tech's Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines

The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering today announced that longtime Dean's Professor Panagiotis Tsiotras has been named to fill the David and Andrew Lewis Chair.

In making the announcement, William R. T. Oakes School Chair Mark Costello praised Tsiotras's past and future contributions to the field.

"We're delighted to be able honor Panos in this way, and trust that the prestige and resources afforded by this appointment will expand the research and education impact of our school," he said. "Professor Tsiotras is an international leader in autonomy with an emphasis on ground, aerial and space vehicles applications."

Tsiotras currently serves as the associate director of Georgia Tech's Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. His research interests include nonlinear and optimal control and their connections with AI, emphasizing autonomous and semi-autonomous ground, aerial and space vehicles applications. He has published more than 300 journal and conference articles in these areas.
