The Royal Aeronautical Society this month announced that AE alumnus Farooq Akram, Ph.D. AE '11, has been elected as Fellow of the Society.

Each year, the Royal Aeronautical Society bestows the honor on professionals who have made outstanding contributions in the profession of aeronautics. Fellowship is the highest grade attainable within the Royal Aeronautical Society.

A former student of Prof. Dimitri Mavris, Akram is currently an associate professor at National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad. His research areas are uncertainty quantification and propagation techniques, development of advanced design methodologies, multidisciplinary design, and multi-objective optimization. He is Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and a member of the AIAA Design Engineering Technical Committee (DETC).
