Longtime AE professor will receive the award at the AAS annual meeting in August

The American Astronautical Society has announced that longtime Daniel Guggenheim School professor Panagiotis Tsiotras has been elected a Fellow of the Society, the highest-ranking membership offered.

In announcing the honor, AAS executive director Jim Ray, praised Tsiotras for his "significant and unique contributions to astronautics", as well as his "outstanding service to AAS."

Tsiotras will officially receive the award at the AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialists Conference which will be held in Portland, Maine in August.

Tsiotras holds the David & Andrew Lewis Endowed Chair in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering and is also the associate director of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. His current research interests include nonlinear and optimal control and their connections with AI, emphasizing autonomous and semi-autonomous ground, aerial and space vehicles applications.
