"Direct Numerical Simulation of Multiscale Physics of Binary Droplet Collision," a paper coauthored by School of Aerospace Engineering professor Vigor Yang, has been published in the June edition of Physics of Fluids.

This is the fifth consecutive paper authored by Yang in the last 18 months to be featured in the scientific journal.

In the article, Yang and his colleague Xiaodong Chen explore the physics of basic fluid dynamics, a phenomenon that occurs in natural and engineering environments. Their work investigates the collision of two equal-sized droplets of the same liquid.

The team’s work was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the United States Army Research Office under the Multi-University Research Initiative, and the William R. T. Oakes Endowment of Georgia Institute of Technology.

Yang and Chen are currently working on a book Liquid Injector Dynamics to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2021.
