All AE students doing research should follow the appropriate permitting process, described below:
Undergraduate Research Permits
Undergraduates seeking to do research should follow these steps
- Start by filling out the Undergraduate Research Form.
- Submit the completed form.
- The professor supervising your research will approve the form, which will automatically send it to the AE Academic Office for processing.
- The AE Academic Office will process your permit; they will send you an email instructing you to register for the course.
- Register for the course.
Graduate Research Permits
Non-thesis master's students are required to complete research. They designate that research by enrolling in the AE 8900 Special Problem.
To be eligible to enroll in AE8900 you must complete the following
- Fill out the AE8900 Special Problem form
- Submit the completed form.
- The professor supervising your research will approve the form, which will automatically send it to the AE Academic Office for processing.
- The AE Academic Office will process your permit; they will send you an email instructing you to register for the course.
- Register for the course.
Restrictions
- Permits may only be requested during the Georgia Tech Registration Period
- The deadline for requests is 9 a.m. on the last day of Phase II Registration
- The AE Academic Office can only offer permits for AE courses. If the research permit you need is not through a AExxxx course, you must contact the department offering the course with your request.
