U.S. News & World Report ranks the AE School No. 1 among public institutions.
2026 USN&WR rankings place the AE School's graduate programs No. 2 in the nation for third consecutive year.
For the third year in a row, Georgia Tech’s Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering is ranked No. 2 among the nation’s top graduate programs, according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Aerospace Engineering Programs. This marks 35 consecutive years that the aerospace program has ranked fifth or higher in the country.
The updated rankings arrive just weeks after the state of Georgia approved $88.2 million for the design and construction of a new aerospace engineering building that will serve as a hub for the AE School. The new 200,000 square-foot facility, expected to cost approximately $200 million, will include new multidisciplinary facilities, classrooms, laboratories, and project spaces for students, faculty, researchers, staff, and industry partners.
This investment reinforces the state’s position as a national leader in aerospace innovation, workforce development, and economic development, while also modernizing and improving the AE School’s outdated facilities. The Delta Air Lines Foundation also committed $5 million to support the project.
“For decades, Georgia Tech has shaped aerospace engineering through research and developing the best and brightest engineers,” said Mitchell Walker, William R.T. Oakes Jr. School Chair. “Now, with the development of a new building, we are laying the foundation of a new platform where we will define the future of aerospace engineering.”
In the fall, U.S. News placed the AE School’s undergraduate program in the No. 2 spot nationally and No. 1 among publicly funded institutions.
Overall, Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering ranks No. 4 for its graduate programs, with every discipline ranked ninth or higher., It’s the 15th consecutive year all engineering programs have ranked in the top 10 nationally.
