The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering (AE School) ranks No. 2 in the nation in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges undergraduate rankings. The AE School is No. 1 among public institutions, continuing a longstanding tradition of excellence among the nation’s top aerospace engineering programs.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students to advancing excellence in aerospace engineering,” said Stephen Ruffin, interim chair of the School of Aerospace Engineering. “Through rigorous learning, hands-on experience, and a culture of innovation, our students are prepared to address complex challenges in aerospace and contribute to the future of the field.”
That commitment to preparing the next generation of aerospace engineers is also reflected in Georgia Tech’s investment in the AE School’s future. Plans are underway for a new aerospace engineering building that will provide expanded space for teaching, research, collaboration, and student experiences.
The new facility will strengthen the AE School’s ability to bring together students, faculty, and industry partners while supporting the innovative research and hands-on learning that define a Georgia Tech aerospace engineering education.
The new building will serve as an important part of the AE School’s continued growth, creating opportunities for students to engage with emerging technologies and work alongside faculty on research addressing some of the most pressing challenges in aviation and space exploration.
Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering ranks No. 2 overall among undergraduate engineering programs and No. 1 among public universities alongside the University of California, Berkeley. Every undergraduate engineering discipline at Georgia Tech ranks in the top five nationally.
Overall, Georgia Tech ranks No. 29 nationally and sixth among public universities.
Earlier this year, the AE School’s graduate programs were ranked No. 2 by U.S. News & World Report and No. 1 among public institutions.

Released Sept. 22, the 2027 Best Colleges rankings put the engineering undergraduate program at No. 2 in the nation. It’s the second year the College has climbed a spot in the annual list, which has Tech tied with Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.
